March 2015

Dear Reader is a website that has been created to share Biblical truth with Christians and non-Christians alike. The website aims to present the truth in a world where lies and half-truths are prevalent. The articles are informative and provide an easy way to obtain a Biblical understanding of important and relevant topics. End Time Events, the Fulfilment of Prophecies, World Events, the New World Order, False Teachings, Book- and Movie Reviews, Social Issues, Contemplative Spirituality and events in the Middle East are but a few of the topics that will be covered.

2.   Who created God?

This question is a major objection that atheists put forward to justify their disbelief. Bertrand Russell (1872–1970), a famous British philosopher, in his influential little essay, Why I am not a Christian, put this forward as his first objection. Today’s atheists repeat the objection, including Richard Dawkins (The God Delusion) and Australia’s own Philip Adams at the 2010 Global Atheists’ Congress in Melbourne Australia, who said, “The great argument for God was that there had to be a Creation, a beginning. … But my objection was simple. If God was the beginning who began God?”2

3.   Am I truly saved?

Churches today are filled with people who hold to a faith that does not save.  Here is a list of seven conditions that do not prove or disprove the genuineness of saving faith. One can be a Christian and possess these things or one may not be a Christian at all and still possess them. While they don't prove or disprove one's faith, they're important to know and understand so you will not be deceived.

4.   Iran – A serious nuclear threat

Why does Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu want to address a Joint Session of Congress despite intense – even unprecedented -- political attacks against him from the Obama administration, the media, and the left-wing in Israel? Because he understands something too few in the West do – that the most serious threat we face today is not simply from “Radical Islam,” but from “Apocalyptic Islam.”

5.   Jihad

The Quran contains at least 109 verses that call Muslims to war with nonbelievers for the sake of Islamic rule.  Some are quite graphic, with commands to chop off heads and fingers and kill infidels wherever they may be hiding.  Muslims who do not join the fight are called 'hypocrites' and warned that Allah will send them to Hell if they do not join the slaughter.

6.   Creation

In spite of being marred by transgression, nature still bears an eloquent testimony to the love and power of a Divine Creator. After resting under the heavy curses of sin for almost 6,000 years, the incredible beauty of God's handiwork continues to amaze and enthrall. When we thank God for our blessings, we should never forget to mention these incomparable natural wonders that add so much meaning to every moment of our lives.

8.   Book review:  The Dawkins Confusion

Richard Dawkins is not pleased with God: The God of the Old Testament is arguably the most unpleasant character in all of fiction. Jealous and proud of it; a petty, unjust unforgiving control-freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic-cleanser; a misogynistic homophobic racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal…. The God Delusion is an extended diatribe against religion in general and belief in God in particular.  Dawkins has written his book, he says, partly to encourage timorous atheists to come out of the closet.

9.  The truth of the Bible

A prestigious publication like Newsweek is read by millions every week, so one would think they would exercise due diligence in making sure that their articles were factually accurate, and at least retain some semblance of journalistic impartiality. All such standards were clearly not taken seriously in the recent front-page story by Kurt Eichenwald titled “The Bible: So Misunderstood It’s a Sin”.

10.  Anti-Semitism

Israel is under assault on North American college campuses today like never before. Anti-Israel activities to alienate, demonize, and delegitimize Israel are increasingly crossing the line into anti-Semitism, in the form of hate speech, harassment and intimidation. Crossing the Line 2 is a new documentary that reveals the rise of anti-Israel activity and anti-Semitic rhetoric on North American university campuses.

11.  About the “occupied” territories

The following letter was sent to me by one of my readers.  I am 100 percent in favor of freezing settlements. What settlers are doing there is the same as what my European ancestors did to my Native American ancestors. Stealing land. It should stop. My inclination is to want Israel to go back to the 1967 borders, but I admit that I do not have the historical knowledge to understand the wars that increased the boundaries. So I'm not firm on that. But the further expansion of borders is very wrong, in my opinion.

12.  Prayer

When you pick up an article or book, or hear a talk addressing prayer, what's your usual reaction? Many of us soon feel guilty. Guilty that we don't pray as much as we should or as widely as we should. Guilty that we simply don't pray. Why don't I pray? What's the problem here? Where is my view of prayer going wrong? What is it about my view of God, or of myself as I pray that needs adjusting?

13.  End Times

During the coming tribulation period the Jewish temple will be built here and sacrifices reinstituted. In the middle of this week the false messiah (the Antichrist) will declare himself to be God in the rebuilt temple and persecute all Jews who refuse to accept and worship him as God. At the end of the year-week the Antichrist will besiege Jerusalem and the entire land of Israel. He will know that the true King of the Jews, Jesus the Messiah, will return to destroy His enemies, save the remnant in Israel and restore the throne of David in Jerusalem.

14. Deviating from the truth

The fastest growing segment of professing Christianity today is the Word-Faith Movement, also known as the Positive Confession or simply "Faith" movement. Its growth is at least partially due to the massive amounts of money the leaders are able to extract from the faithful. This influx of cash allows for huge buildings and extensive ministries, and more importantly, wide exposure on television, which translates into numerical growth.

15.   Salvation

There is a debt that is owed by all humans and we are unable to pay. That debt is the debt of sin that Adam brought upon all of mankind. Sin has separated us from God and the only way to ever be able to stand in His presence is to be perfect. That perfection is by God’s standards and is impossible for humans to attain. Adam and Eve tried to cover their sin by their own efforts using fig leaves, but God demonstrated what He required when He shed the blood of an animal to make coats of skins to cover their sin.
