2. Do you know why and how Jesus Christ died?

Crucifixion sometimes began with a scourging or flogging of the victim's back. The Romans used a whip called a flagrum, which consisted of small pieces of bone and metal attached to a number of leather strands. During the scourging, the skin was ripped from the back, exposing a bloody mass of tissue and bone. Extreme blood loss occurred, often causing death, or at least unconsciousness. In addition to the flogging, Jesus faced severe beating and torment by the Roman soldiers, including the plucking of His beard and the piercing of His scalp with a crown of thorns.

3. Do we want an Old Testament without Christ?

Before 1965 the Roman Catholic Church had not been involved with Bible translation. Since then an influence invaded Afrikaans translating of the Bible, bringing with it a swing away from Christ (by name in the Old Testament). The influence of the above institutions also penetrated South African Theological faculties, with devastating results. Without doutbt the Bible Society and the UBS have a very important function. A return to true theological practice in all our theological faculties is also extremely important. Because this is so essential, mistakes and problems must be exposed and put right.

4. Roman Catholicism - Part 2

It is necessary to write a page on Roman Catholicism because there are significant differences between Protestant and Roman Catholic doctrines. Protestants accuse the Catholics of being unscriptural and the Catholics state that the Protestants do not have the true faith carried through centuries by the Catholic Church. On which ever side you fall, the real issue is whether or not the Roman Catholic Church is representing true Christianity. If you are a Roman Catholic, please understand that this site is not meant to offend you in any way. This site is dedicated to examining the truth, all truth, and comparing it to the Bible. No matter who it is or what group is proclaiming truth, we know that the Bible is the Word of God and that no truth from God will contradict it. I urge you to examine what is here on this site and see if what is being taught here is true

5. Mysticism has entered our Churches

Many people in postmodern western society are unsatisfied with traditional religion and are looking for something new. The Emerging Church movement seeks to meet this need, exploring new modes of expressing the gospel to postmodern Western culture. not surprisingly, no one in the movement is quite sure where they're going to end up. Emerging Church leaders "do not all agree on where the church goes from here but they all believe that it must go somewhere, for they believe the modern church cannot connect with the postmodern mind

6. Book Review: Love Wins - Rob Bell

Popular Emergent pastor Rob Bell has a unique ability to make God's Truth sound dubious as well as detestable. Then, having raised doubts about our holy God, he offers comforting counterfeits that fit today's quest for unity and community. Mocking the true Church as narrow and offensive, he promotes alternatives that resemble the vision of the sixties. His popular heresies are fast luring seekers away from God's truth to a new kind of "gospel".

7. End Time Prophecy

Daniel's prophecy of the 'Seventy Sevens' is the most important Messianic prophecy in the Bible because it gives specific timetables for the two comings of the Messiah. The First Coming, as Son of Joseph (Mashiach Ben Josef) occurred exactly 483 years after "the issuing of the decree to restore and rebuild Jerusalem" and the Second Coming, as Son of David (Mashiach Ben David) will occur exactly seven years after the "ruler who will come" confirms "a covenant with many". From the context of this prophecy, as well as other prophecies from Daniel, Jesus and the book of Revelation, we know that this covenant, or treaty, wil be one that concerns Israel and the rebuilding of the Jewish temple in Jerusalem

8. The Turmoil in the Middle East

Many in the West are hoping that the current unrest will lead to the emergence of a new Middle East based on democracy and freedom. However, the Brotherhood stands ready to co-opt every demonstration and capitalize on the momentum of change to establish Islamist governments, the only freedom being from Western influence. Praising Hamas and declaring the necessity of destroying Israel, the spiritual leader of the Brotherhood has declared that protests and unrest will continue until every pro-Western, pro-Israel Arab leader has been deposed

9. How do we define the grace of God?

Cheap grace is the deadly enemy of the Church. We are fighting today for costly grace. The sacraments, the forgiveness of sin, and the consolations of religion are thrown away at cut prices. Grace is represented as the Church's inexhaustible treasure, from which she showers blessings with generous hands, without asking questions or fixing limits. Grace without price; grace without cost! Cheap grace therefore amount to a denial of the living Word of God, in fact, a denial of the Incarnation of the Word of God

10. The Seven Feasts of Messiah

The Festivals the Lord found in Leviticus chapter 23, were given to us by God so His people could understand the coming of the Messiah and the role that the Messiah would play in redeeming and restoring both man and the earth back to God following the Fall of Man in the Garden of Eden. God gave the Festivals to teach about the death, burial and resurrection of the Messiah, the empowering of the believers by the Holy Spirit, the resurrection of the dead, the coronation of the Messiah, the wedding of the Messiah, the Millennium and much more

11. The Rapture

Biblical teachings about the rapture, the end-time restoration of the nation of Israel and the Millennial Kingdom have, through various phases of Church history, been spiritualized and brushed aside by theologians. Faith in these promises has, however, been revived time and again to become a strong motivating power in the lives of believers. We are living in a time which sees the fulfillment of many biblical prophecies. When people accept the prophetic word and study it, they achieve greater clarity regarding future events

12. Charles Darwin's Theory of Evolution

Despite the common belief in evolution, the truth in this debate will surprise many: that in the last generation, thousands of skilled scientists have abandoned belief in evolution and become creationists. Probably tens of thousands of theistically persuaded scientists are still "in the closet". Further, even some evolutioniss will agree that there is little viable evidence for evolution - and that there is no evidence for evolution that is unequivocal or incontrovertible

13. Creation versus Evolution

If the Bible is the inspired Word of God, its record of the global Flood is completely factual. If the entire world was at one time covered in water for over a year, then one would expect to find evidence of sea life on mountains all over the world. Researchers were "surprised to find thick layers of ancient lake sediment filled with plant, fish and animal fossels typical of far lower elevations and warmer, wetter climates. The fossil evidence was found 15,000 feet high on Tibet's desolate Himalayan-Tibetan Plateau

14. Vaccine and aborted embryonic cells

Former drug company scientist Helen Jatajczak recently created a firestorm of debate from all sides of the vaccine-autism issue when she published her comprehensive review of autism research. One element brought to light that has managed to stay well below the radar is the use of aborted embryonic cells in vaccine production

15. Global Warming

The world's leading climate body has been accused of losing credibility after a damning report into its research practices. A high-level inquiry into the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change found that there was "little evidence" for its claims about global warming. It also said the panel had emphasized the negative impacts of climate change and made "substantive findings" based on little proof.

16. Cremation

Many apparently think that cremation is biblical since it has gathered such wide acceptance in recent years even among professing Christians. The ministers of America are strangely silent on the subject and very few church attendees have ever heard a sermon on the subject, much less studied the matter themselves

17. ZCC

The Zionist Churches proliferated throughout Southern Africa, and became African Independent Churches. Research suggested that 40% of all black South Africans belonged to a Zionist Church. What needs to be understood is that although the ZCC people call themselves Christian, they can in no way be seen as Christian, for the very basis of true Christianity is not found in or among them
