Are you born again?

by Evangelical Tract Distributors

Jesus said to Nicodemus, “Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” John 3:3

People are asking the same question today that Nicodemus asked: “How can a man be born when he is old? What is it? What does it mean?” But Jesus hits him again, “Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.” John 3:7

What effect has it on the person that receives it? “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” II Corinthians 5:17

By our own good works? No. Do we get it by joining some church? No. Do we get it by going forward and shaking the preacher’s hand? No. Do we get it by keeping the Golden Rule and giving to the poor and the Church? No. How do we get it? In God’s way, the way of repentance; by turning away from sin and asking God to forgive us in Jesus’ Name, and to make us His own. But how do we do that? The way the Publican did, pray; “God be merciful to me a sinner.” Luke 18:13  Will God refuse to hear the cry of a sin-sick soul? No. “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” I John 1:

Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.” Isaiah 1:18

Why do we have to be born again? Because we are dead in trespasses and sin. “For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.” I Corinthians 15:22

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16

Can we know when we are born again? Yes. “Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God.” I John 5:1

“We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.” I John 5:18

Can we get into Heaven without the new birth? No. “Whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.” Revelation 20:15

The new birth gives us new thoughts, new desires, new ambitions. We can look up to God and say: “Our Father which art in Heaven,” Matthew 6:9, with a glad heart. Why? Because we know Him, we have been made anew, and taken into the family of God, and become heirs of God and joint heirs with Jesus Christ.

Why should I put this before the people? Because it is Heaven or Hell for each one of us. The new birth starts us toward Heaven, and without it we cannot get there. Think of the thousands of people with their names on church books, who have never yet met God’s conditions on any line, and yet they think they are going to Heaven: when Jesus has said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me.” John 14:6 Jesus suffered on the Cross that we might have life. We are born of the Spirit into this new life. Dear reader, ask yourself the question, “Where will I spend eternity?” There are only two places for the soul of man, Heaven or Hell, and each one of us has to choose for ourselves.

Jesus said, “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear My voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with Me.” Revelation 3:20

It is a conditional salvation for the man or woman who wants it. Dear reader, don’t throw your chance of Heaven away. It means too much to you. Eternity is a very long time to be in the wrong place.

Receive the new birth and spend eternity with Jesus. May God bless this tract to everyone who reads
